Illustration

What we mean by illustration is the use of drawn, sketched, painted or computer generated images to communicate.

Illustration is an effective way to present information clearly, it represents a vast array of methods.

The main types of illustration are as follows:

• Pictorial (based on real life images)
• Diagrammatic (tables and charts)
• Iconic (symbols)
• Written (text based)

Of these types there are two ways we can obtain illustration:

• Royalty-free' stock illustrations
• Commissioned illustration

Depending upon the project, brief, target audience and budget we can put forward illustration where it will benefit most.
